These 'Wet Aint' (Little Rose) stamp sheets, were produced in France in 1995 from an original Matthew Rose collage. The sheets, printed on gummed paper (just like real stamps), retell an American story of the artist who has lived in Paris since 1992.
Using bits and pieces of his life, Matthew Rose reconstructs a love story about deception and longing in the guise of Little Rose, a character from an late 19th century children's book. JFK makes an appearance, as does Batman. Wet Paint is transformed into Wet Aint, a warning sign of sorts.
Some 1,000 stamp sheets were originally printed, and now only a few remain. Keep Calm Gallery are pleased to offer a very limited amount of signed and dated sheets.
